Four Victims Wounded at Howe Park — Large Unauthorized Party Ends in Shooting





On the evening of Saturday April 18, an unlawful gathering of hundreds of people at Howe Community Park in Sacramento in the Arden-Arcade area of Sacramento descended into chaos when 20 to 25 rounds filled the air as law enforcement officers were working to clearing the area.

A Timeline of Events

Just after 6:30 PM, the Sacramento County Sheriff received calls involving individuals who may have been carrying concealed weapons at the park. An additional caller advised of a potential physical confrontation and people leaving the area quickly.

Aerial units was dispatched and conducted an aerial search but could not find any ongoing altercation.

Even so, hundreds of individuals had assembled at the location for what deputies referred to as an unapproved assembly. Officers set up around the park, illuminated the area with emergency lights, and spent approximately 15 minutes commanding the crowd to clear out over their vehicle speakers.

While deputies were dispersing the crowd, an estimated 20 to 25 rounds were discharged — sending the crowd scattering in all directions at once.

Victims of the Shooting

Four victims — a woman get more info and three men, all in their 20s click here — were transported to area hospitals. Two victims had injuries classified as immediate, one victim had moderate injuries, and one victim sustained minor injuries. Each of the four victims was in stable condition. Sacramento Metro Fire responded and assisted with triage at the incident scene.

The Crime Scene

Gunfire originated from the Cottage Way side of the park in the vicinity of the nearby Home Depot at the 2200 block of Howe Ave. The nearby Home Depot was locked down click here for a period of time. Extra shell casings were recovered from Cottage Way, with rounds lodged found Home Depot Sacramento shooting in the wrought iron fence bordering the Home Depot — indicating a shooter who fired southward from the Cottage Way area toward the Home Depot. CSI investigators and detectives investigated the scene into the night.

The Suspect Vehicle

Over scanner traffic, it was indicated that a vehicle of interest — described as a Kia vehicle — was intercepted in Solano County with four suspects detained. Law enforcement units were traveling to collect those detained and return them to Sacramento County for questioning. Video analysis confirmed two separate shooters.
